IMS Yachts is an official dealer for SEA VEE BOATS.
MEDLEY, FLORIDA, January 10th, 2020 – Since the introduction of the patented and award winning SeaVee
Z stepped hull technology in 2014, SeaVee Boats has experienced incredible sales growth! SeaVee has become the largest boat builder by sales revenue in Dade County, and by 2015 it was clear the company needed to consolidate operations from three South Florida locations into one central facility to scale production capacity and add enough space for
larger boat models.
SeaVee wishes to express their gratitude for the support of multiple parties and agencies in realizing the goal to design and develop this modern facility located here in Medley. Driven primarily by the desire to remain in Dade County, the company’s home, SeaVee leveraged in- house resources and expertise to design a state-of-the-art boat manufacturing campus while skillfully navigating the process of obtaining the required permits to reclaim and rehabilitate a former EPA Superfund site for reuse.
The process wasn’t easy, inexpensive or fast. After acquiring the 9 acre property, SeaVee teamed up with T.A. Builders to overcome a long list of design, permitting and site preparation challenges before construction could ever begin. State and local agencies had to work with federal officials at the EPA to champion the conversion of the Superfund site and assure all stakeholders it was ready for redevelopment. The hilly site also had to be leveled, graded and proper drainage had to be installed before the giant slab could be poured to support the 180,000 square foot manufacturing hall and service center. A tilt-up concrete building was erected to accompany the existing small parts lamination center to yield 220,000 sq. feet of working space.
The entire construction process was completed in less than 18 months.
The new SeaVee manufacturing campus features countless design innovations and consists of multiple buildings consolidating all of the departments from design and sales to construction and service in one location. The new facility is nearly three times larger than the previous factory and may employ over 300 people. It significantly scales capacity and features a dedicated production line for boats over 40 feet in preparation for a new product launch in 2020.
The new factory allows SeaVee to reimagine the manufacturing process and make it more efficient, more visual and lean. Investments and innovations include an automated CNC cutter & router, specialized ventilation, a composites lamination center, a metal shop, rigging shops for t-tops towers, consoles and much more. The assembly lines are equipped with dedicated catwalks to facilitate easier access to boats for both staff and customers alike. There’s a pool on the factory floor specifically designed for in-water testing to spot leaks and run the plumbing for air conditioners, sea chests & bait wells, Seakeepers, generators and washdown systems without having to trailer to Biscayne Bay. Sales offices were designed with windows overlooking the production line and there’s a sales showroom where clients can configure their boat’s helm station and build specs. In short, the new SeaVee World Headquarters is a destination visit for customers, a modern production facility and an American success story all in one.
